Parents tribute – R.I.P | El Greco...The Medic !!!

This is an online memorial of my recently departed parents in Greece…

… 25 miles east of Athens, in a beautiful summer cottage for over 20 years, following my father’s retirement from the Ministry of Education…!!!

My father was an English teacher for numerous public high schools in Athens , but he served in other areas of Greece as well, in Karditsa , in Samos Island , in Syros island , in Ithaca island , in Corinth and in Nafplion , to name a few.

He studied in the USA, at the University of Michigan:

Thousands and thousands of students have graduated from his classes during his 45 year career , in Public Education. I was one his students as well…he was my teacher too, at the 14th High school of Athens.

He was born about 80 years ago in Piraeus, the port of Athens, one of 4 children , the oldest son of an Asia Minor http://www.unrv.com/provinces/asia-minor.php immigrant from Istanbul-Turkey, my grandfather.

He passed away suddenly form a weak heart at home, on Friday December 26th 2006 at 16:30,local time… Rest in Peace Dad…God bless you !!!

My mother was an unbelievable good cook and a great homemaker, constantly cleaning after us and keeping us out of trouble. She had the same family roots and age as my father, one of 6 children , the daughter of Rail road Station manager as well, my other grandfather.

She grew up in the suburbs of Athens but lived at so many other cities and islands, since my father was constantly being transferred from city to city, as needed.

She passed away at Pandokratoras Clinic , a local private clinic in Athens, following treatment for a stroke at Sizmanoglio Hospital of Athens, about a year later after my father did, on December 13th 2007. May The Lord bless her soul and forgive her sins…

Rest in Peace Mom.

They lived their lives to the fullest… they traveled to the USA and Canada numerous times to visit their brother in Florida , Washington and Montreal, as well as New York City …

50 years together is a long time… with so many good memories that it would be impossible to mention…!!!

I only wish , I would be half as good as a parent to my kids as you were to me and my brother.

Thanks a million for everything….

Your deaths were so sudden and unexpected that it is impossible for me to believe , even today, that you are gone.

We still remember you having breakfast together at the porch, overlooking the Aegean Sea…singing all together, your favorite song ” To oreotero plasma”
